कार्यक्रम के बारे में 

सामाजिक बदलाव और बदलाव की राजनीति में भागीदारी की प्रक्रिया जटिल है । आज के राजनैतिक माहौल में कार्यकर्ताओं के सामने कई चुनौतियां हैं – समाज में उदासीनता और बढ़ती असहींष्णुता; ‘विकास’ के नाम पर संसाधनों का बढ़ता निजीकरण और केंद्रीकरण; लोकतान्त्रिक प्रक्रियों की घटती जगह और जाती, धर्म, वर्ग और लिंग आधारित शोषण के पेंचीदा अंतरसंबंधों का जाल – ये सब नई  मैदानी उलझनों और सवालों को खड़ा कर रहे हैं . इन उलझनों और सवालों का सामना करते हुए युवा कार्यकर्ताओं के भीतर उस सन्दर्भ और स्थानीय मुद्दों की एक समझ पैदा होती है. अक्सर यह भी होता है कि सामजिक परिवर्तन के काम में लगे हुए  कार्यकर्ता अपने काम में इतने व्यस्त रहते हैं कि उन्हें व्यापक राजनैतिक – आर्थिक – सामजिक मुद्दों का गहराई से अध्ययन करने और अपने काम में शामिल करने  का समय या मौक़ा ही नहीं मिलता। इसी समझ को सांझा कर के परखने और विकसित करने की प्रक्रिया है यह कार्यक्रम जिसका नाम है, बुनियाद।

15 दिन का यह कार्यक्रम ज़मीनी कार्यकर्ता को आज की  राजनैतिक, आर्थिक, सामाजिक परिस्थितियों को समझते हुए स्वयं का द्रष्टिकोण स्पष्ट करने की प्रक्रिया में जोड़ने का एक प्रयास करता है . साथ ही आपस में तथा अनुभवी कार्यकर्ताओं के साथ संवाद से सीखने, समझने और प्रेरणा हासिल करने का अवसर है, यह कार्यक्रम.

कार्यक्रम में शामिल होने के लिए :

1. यह कार्यक्रम युवा कार्यकर्ताओं के लिए है – जिनकी उम्र 25 से 35 साल के बीच हो.

2. कार्यकर्ता ने किसी सामाजिक संस्था, संगठन, जन आन्दोलन के लिए कम से कम ३ साल काम किया हो.

3. यह कार्यक्रम हिन्दी में होगा.

कार्यक्रम का शुल्क:

इस कार्यक्रम का पूर्ण शुल्क लगभग ६५००/- है | यदि आप या आपका संगठन या संस्था यह शुल्क अदा करने में असमर्थ है तो योग्य राशि का योगदान कर सकते हैं । आवेदन पत्र में यह स्पष्ट कर दें।

A two week program for youth involved in initiatives of social change

When youth engages in initiatives of social and political change, they encounter numerous questions and contradictions on the ground. In facing these ground realities, they develop an understanding of the local issues and their context. Based on this understanding, they experiment, and attempt new ways of dealing with the existing socio-economic-political-environmental problems.

However, the preoccupation with localised environments and an overload of responsibilities within the movement or organisation often prevents a grasp of the larger socio-economic-political context we are all operating in. The young worker rarely finds time to study these ‘big-picture’ issues in any significant detail – thereby not developing the capability to make connections of local issues and efforts with the larger socio-political-economic context of today.

The socio-economic and political realities of our times are highly interconnected. Issues of development, livelihood, democracy, economy, ecology, communalism, education or human rights cannot be seen as independent of each other. The belief behind conceiving a program like ‘Buniyaad’ is that, in order to be effective, any socio-economic-political intervention of today requires an understanding of all these issues, as well their linkages to each other.

Buniyaad has been conceptualised for young social and political activists who have spent at least 3 years on the field.  The program duration is for 2 weeks, and the attempt is to broaden the understanding of ‘on the field’ activists regarding big-picture issues in the social, economic, political spheres. The program offers an opportunity to be with, gain inspiration and knowledge from experienced activists. The participants also gain from sharing time and space at leisure with fellow activists working on diverse issues, across varying regions of the country.

The program highlights are as follows:

PERSPECTIVE BUILDING

1. Our Political context.

·What is the historical context of contemporary India’s society and institutions? On what ideals was India created? What are the promises of the constitution? How have we fared vis-à-vis those promises?

· How are the five pillars of democracy functioning? How does power operate in these institutions? How is the media aiding/hampering our fights and social movements?

· What other challenges does the Indian democracy face today? Deepening Democracy and Decentralization.

· Various political ideologies and their journeys. Civil society, peoples’ movements and citizen initiatives in today’s context.

2. Our Social Context

· What is the nature and context of the tribal struggle in India today?

· How relevant is the caste question in 21st century India?

· Dalit dignity, Minority issues, The Indian Courts and Justice machinery, Communal politics, Gender Issues

· The context and reality of Kashmir and the Northeast – and the issues of regional identity.

· Lessons from some of the big social movements of our times

3. Our Economic and Ecological context

·The origins of the notion of ‘progress’ / ‘development’

· Economic History – from hunter-gatherer societies to feudalism to capitalism to socialism. The neo-liberal capitalism of today – and a look at ‘development’ in this context. Its effects on politics, society and life in general. Its relations to the social movements of today.

The Pedagogy of ‘Buniyaad’:

The program shall use a variety of methodologies including interactive lectures and discussions facilitated by subject experts, live experience sharing by activists, film screenings and collective reflection, readings and presentations, group and individual exercises, amongst others, to enable participants to reflect on their current understanding, and help deepen the same.

Contribution towards workshop costs: The expected contribution towards workshop costs from participants is 6500/- for 15 days. Participants who need partial or full waivers please do mention so in the application form.
