दोस्तों,

आजकल सोशल मीडिया के जरिए हम देश-दुनिया की जानकारी हासिल कर सकते हैं | चाहे सामाजिक हो या राजनीतिक, ज्ञान, विज्ञान और जीवन से जुड़ी हर जानकारी सोशल मीडिया पर लोग साँझा कर रहे हैं। परंतु क्या वह सभी जानकारी सही है?

आज के हालात देखकर आपके दिमाग़ में ज़रूर ये सवाल आता होगा कि पत्रकारिता किसके लिए है? हमारे चारों तरफ़ नफ़रत ही नफ़रत दिखाई देती है। इस नफ़रत ने हमारे प्यारे संविधान, लोकतंत्र, बंधुत्व और न्याय की सोच को छलनी कर दिया है। लेकिन इस नफ़रत को आपके ड्राइंग रूम और फिर दिमाग़ में भरने के लिए ज़िम्मेदार कौन है? तो इसका जवाब है आपका मोबाइल फ़ोन। फ़ेसबुक, ट्विटर, इंस्टाग्राम और व्हाट्सएप यूनिवर्सिटी और यूट्यूब चैनल्स के ज़रिए नफ़रत, झूठ और हिंसा को ही देशभक्ति के तौर पर स्थापित करने की कोशिश हो रही है।

इसका हमला हमारे संविधान तथा लोकतंत्र की मुख्य संस्थाओं पर हुआ है। यह नफरत की राजनीति का प्रचार सबसे अधिक सोशल मीडिया के जरिए किया जाता है; ऐसा कंटेन्ट बनाया जाता है जो हमारे लोगों को न चाहते हुए भी झूठी खबर सच मानने पर मजबूर कर देता है ।

अगर आपकी आँखों में एक बेहतर मुल्क का सपना दौड़ता है.. अगर आपका मन करता है ग़ैर बराबरी, हिंसा, अत्याचार और झूठ के खिलाफ आवाज़ उठाने का.. अगर आप हर तरह के अन्याय और झूठ को करना चाहते हैं बेपर्दा.. तो आपके भीतर भी बसता है एक पत्रकार। अगर आप लाना चाहते हैं समाज में बदलाव, तो आपके अंदर धड़कते हैं नई दुनिया के ख़्वाब। आइए हम मिलकर खोजेंगे आगे का रास्ता। बस आपके पास होना चाहिए एक मोबाइल फ़ोन और ज़ुबान में आवाज़। हम बताएंगे कैसे देना है उस आवाज़ को अल्फ़ाज़ और कैसे देना है उस अल्फ़ाज़ को परवाज़।

देश के पेशेवर पत्रकार आपको सिखाएँगे ग्राउंड जीरो से ख़बरें करना, कैमरे से शूट करना, रिपोर्टिंग कैसे करें, कंटेन्ट कैसे बनाया जाए, खबर या जानकारी कहाँ से प्राप्त की जाए, इंटरव्यू कैसे करें, कैसे बनाएँ नफ़रत के ख़िलाफ़ अपना मीडिया, किन नियमों का पालन करना ज़रूरी है, और अपना स्टूडियो कैसे बनाएँ। मतलब वो सबकुछ जो एक सोशल मीडिया पत्रकार बनने के लिए ज़रूरी है। अपनी सच्ची खबर/जानकारी को लोगों तक पहुँचाने के लिए मोबाइल एक कमाल का जरिया बन सकता है

किसके लिए है ये कार्यशाला?

अगर आप पत्रकार होना चाहते हैं, अगर आप पत्रकारिता की पढ़ाई कर रहे हैं, अगर आप पत्रकारिता की एक कारगर ट्रेनिंग चाहते हैं, और इन सबसे ऊपर आप मानते हैं कि संविधान और लोकतंत्र को बचाने के लिए आपको पत्रकारिता में उतरना चाहिए, तो ये कार्यशाला आपके लिए है।

चाहे आपका मूल पेशा कुछ भी हो, हमें आपको इसकी बारीकियों से वाकिफ करते हुए ख़ुशी होगी। उन महिलाओं को इस कार्यशाला का हिस्सा बनाते हुए हमें बेहद ख़ुशी होगी जिन्हें लगता है कि आधी आबादी की आवाज़ को जोड़े बिना देश की मुकम्मल तस्वीर नहीं बन सकती। पत्रकारिता के अलावा, इस कार्यशाला से सीखकर आप इसका उपयोग आपके कार्यक्षेत्र में सामाजिक मुद्दों का विश्लेषण, वकालत अभियान, इन-हाउस समूह या पारस्परिक संचार, या अन्य जन संचार सामग्री में भी कर सकते हैं।

सिखाने वाले कौन होंगे?

नवीन कुमार: संस्थापक, आर्टिकल 19 इंडिया आजतक; एबीपी न्यूज़, न्यूज़ 24, इंडिया टीवी, सहारा समय, न्यूज़ एक्सप्रेस समेत कई संस्थानों में अहम पदों पर रहे।

रविंद्र चौधरी: साल 2016 से 2020 तक वे फेकिंग न्यूज़ (नेटवर्क18) में सीनियर राइटर और एडिटर रहे, जो भारत का एक प्रसिद्ध व्यंग्य मंच है। मई 2020 से वे “Bhagat Ram” नाम से अपना यूट्यूब चैनल चला रहे हैं।

शंभु कुमार सिंह: शंभु कुमार सिंह एक वरिष्ठ पत्रकार हैं और दिल्ली से प्रकाशित नेशनल दस्तक के संपादक हैं। वे अपनी बेबाक और सामाजिक मुद्दों पर आधारित रिपोर्टिंग के लिए जाने जाते हैं। उन्होंने हमेशा सामाजिक और राजनीतिक विषयों पर खुलकर लिखा है। अब वे सक्रिय राजनीति में आ गए हैं। वे बिहार के वैशाली लोकसभा क्षेत्र से बहुजन समाज पार्टी (BSP) के उम्मीदवार के रूप में चुनाव लड़ चुके हैं/लड़ रहे हैं।
शंभु कुमार सिंह का मानना है कि जो लोग समाज सेवा के लिए काम करते हैं, उन्हें सीधे राजनीति और लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया में भाग लेना चाहिए।

मीना कोतवाल: मीना कोतवाल एक प्रतिष्ठित पत्रकार और “द मूकनायक” की संस्थापक हैं। “द मूकनायक” एक ऑनलाइन समाचार मंच है जो भारत में हाशिए पर खड़े समुदायों के लिए सामाजिक न्याय और लोकतंत्र की आवाज़ को मजबूत करने के उद्देश्य से कार्य करता है। मीना कोतवाल समाज के वंचित और उपेक्षित वर्गों की आवाज़ को मुख्यधारा तक पहुँचाने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध हैं। उनका कार्य दलितों, आदिवासियों, अल्पसंख्यकों, महिलाओं, LGBTQ+ समुदाय तथा अन्य हाशिए के समूहों की कहानियों, संघर्षों और उपलब्धियों को सामने लाने पर केंद्रित है।

ट्विंकल रक्षिता: ट्विंकल रक्षिता हंस कथा सम्मान से पुरस्कृत कथाकार बिहार के गया में रहती हैं। कथादेश, नया ज्ञानोदय और इंडिया टुडे वार्षिकी में कहानियां प्रकाशित। साहित्य, पत्रकारिता और समाज के रिश्तों पर गहरी नजर रखती हैं। आंचलिक पत्रकारिता में स्त्रियों की मौजूदगी और उनकी कहानियां कहे जाने के तरीके पर सुचिंतित दृष्टि रखने वाली युवा लेखिका। समाज के बीच मौजूद सुंदरता और क्रूरता को कैमरा की नज़र से कैसे देखा जाए इसपर सोचना अच्छा लगता है।

शुभांगी डेढ़गवें (ऑनलाइन): एक खोजी पत्रकार हैं, जो अपनी ज़मीनी रिपोर्टिंग के लिए जानी जाती हैं। उन्होंने डॉयचे वेले (DW) और एनडीटीवी इंडिया के साथ काम किया है, और जलवायु न्याय, जातिगत भेदभाव, स्वास्थ्य और मानवाधिकार जैसे विषयों पर रिपोर्टिंग की है। उनकी स्टोरीज़ फील्ड रिपोर्टिंग, डेटा विश्लेषण और कानूनी शोध पर आधारित होती हैं, जो दिखाती हैं कि नीतिगत फैसलों का असर आम लोगों की ज़िंदगी पर कैसे पड़ता है।

तीस्ता सेताल्वा (ऑनलाइन): यह एक प्रमुख भारतीय मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता, पत्रकार और लेखिका हैं। वे 2002 के गुजरात दंगों के पीड़ितों को न्याय दिलाने के लिए जानी जाती हैं। उन्होंने सिटिज़न्स फॉर जस्टिस एंड पीस (CJP) की सह-स्थापना की और सांप्रदायिकता के खिलाफ लगातार काम किया है। आज भी वे मानवाधिकार और न्याय के मुद्दों पर सक्रिय हैं।

प्रथमेश पाटिल (ऑनलाइन): वे पिछले 12 सालों से पत्रकार, मीडिया प्रोफेशनल और ट्रांसलेटर हैं। इस दौरान, वे मीडिया लैंडस्केप के क्रिएटिव पहलुओं और इसके क्रिटिकल और रिसर्च-ओरिएंटेड पहलुओं, दोनों में शामिल रहे हैं। उन्होंने पॉलिटिकल और एग्रीकल्चरल रिपोर्टिंग में स्पेशलाइज़ेशन के साथ सोशल, पॉलिटिकल और इकोनॉमिक मुद्दों पर बड़े पैमाने पर रिपोर्टिंग की है। इसके अलावा, उन्होंने तीन इंडिपेंडेंट मीडिया ऑर्गनाइज़ेशन भी शुरू किए हैं और उन्हें लीड किया है, जिसमें इंडी जर्नल तीसरा और अभी एक्टिव वेंचर है।
प्राजक्ता जोशी (ऑनलाइन): वह अभी सकाल टाइम्स, पुणे की रिपोर्टिंग टीम के साथ एक कॉरेस्पोंडेंट के तौर पर काम कर रही हैं और अभी एक्टिव वेंचर में हैं।

Today, much of what we know about the world comes through social media. Whether the subject is social or political, people constantly share information, knowledge, and opinions across digital platforms. But is everything within this ecosystem reliable and responsible?

When we look at the present situation, an important question arises: Who is journalism really for? Hatred has become increasingly visible in public discourse. It has weakened the values of our Constitution, democracy, fraternity, and justice. But who is responsible for bringing this hatred into our living rooms—and into our minds? The answer lies in our mobile phones. Through platforms such as Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, WhatsApp, and YouTube, hatred, misinformation, and violence are being presented as patriotism.

In recent years, divisive ideologies have increasingly shaped public thinking in the country. These forces have undermined the Constitution and the core institutions of democracy. This politics of hatred is most aggressively promoted through social media, where carefully designed content pushes people to accept falsehoods as truth—even against their better judgment.

Do you want to help the public recognize and resist injustice, inequality, and abuse of power?
Do you want to expose the reality behind half-truths and misinformation?

Let us find a way forward together. We will equip you with the necessary technology and skills, and turn your mobile phone into a powerful tool for independent new media.

If the dream of a better country runs in your eyes, if you feel like raising your voice against inequality, violence, oppression, and lies, if you want to expose all kinds of injustice and lies… then a journalist lives inside you too. Let us find the way forward together. All you need is a mobile phone and a voice in the language. We will tell you how to give words to that voice.

About the Workshop

Experienced journalists from across the country will train you in reporting from the ground, shooting with cameras and mobile phones, conducting field reporting, creating digital content, identifying reliable sources of news and information, and conducting effective interviews. You will also learn how to build your own independent media against hatred, understand the ethical and legal responsibilities of journalism, and set up a basic studio.

In short, the workshop will cover everything required to become a responsible and effective social media journalist. A mobile phone can be a powerful medium for taking truthful news and information to the public.

What are we going to learn?

The full potential of mobile phones and the use of DSLR and video cameras.
Understanding what constitutes news and what does not.
Ground-level news reporting and field journalism.
Scriptwriting and asking the right questions during interviews.
The possibility of building a sustainable livelihood

Who is this workshop for?

If you aspire to be a journalist, are currently studying journalism, are seeking meaningful and practical training, or—above all—believe that journalism is essential to protecting the Constitution and democracy, then this workshop is for you. Participants from all professional backgrounds are welcome, and we will be glad to guide you through the skills and practices involved.

We especially encourage women to participate, as a full and accurate understanding of the country is impossible without the voices and perspectives of half its population. Beyond journalism, the skills acquired in this workshop can be applied to the analysis of social issues, advocacy and campaigning, organisational communication, in-house media, interpersonal communication, and other forms of public-interest media.

Who will be the ones to teach?

Naveen Kumar: Founder, Article 19 India; held important positions in many organizations such as Aaj Tak, ABP News, News 24, India TV, Sahara Samay, and News Express.

Ravindra Choudhary: Ravindra Kumar Choudhary holds a PG Diploma in Radio & TV Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (2001–02). He began his career as a news reader-cum-translator with All India Radio (2003–2008), and later worked with Aaj Tak (2008–2010) and India TV (2010). From 2016 to 2020, he served as Senior Writer and Editor at Faking News (Network18), one of India’s leading satire platforms. Since May 2020, he has been running his own YouTube channel under the name Bhagat Ram.
Shambhu Kumar Singh: Shambhu Kumar Singh is a senior journalist and the Editor of National Dastak, based in Delhi. Known for his outspoken and socially engaged reporting, he has consistently focused on socio-political issues. He has now entered active politics, contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Vaishali, Bihar, as a BSP candidate. Singh advocates for greater political participation by social activists, arguing that those committed to public service should directly engage in the democratic process.

Meena Kotwal: Meena Kotwal is a renowned journalist and founder of “The Mooknayak”. The Mooknayak is an online news platform that aims to strengthen the voice of social justice and democracy for marginalized communities in India. Meena Kotwal is committed to bringing the voices of marginalized and marginalized sections of society to the mainstream. Her work focuses on highlighting the stories, struggles, and achievements of Dalits, tribals, minorities, women, the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups.

Twinkle Rakshita: Twinkle Rakshita, a Hans Katha Samman award-winning storyteller, lives in Gaya, Bihar. Her stories have been published in Kathadesh, Naya Gyanodaya, and the India Today Yearbook. She has a keen eye on the relationship between literature, journalism, and society. She is a young writer with a thoughtful perspective on the presence of women in regional journalism and the way their stories are told. She enjoys contemplating how the beauty and cruelty of society can be seen through the lens of a camera.

Shubhangi Dedhgaven (Online): Shubhangi Derhgawen is an investigative journalist known for her hard-hitting, ground-driven reporting. She has worked with Deutsche Welle (DW) and NDTV India, covering climate justice, caste discrimination, governance, healthcare, and human rights. Her work combines field reporting, data analysis, and legal research to examine how policy decisions impact communities on the ground. With a background in feminist ethnography, she focuses on stories that question power, expose systemic gaps, and bring underreported voices into national and international conversations.

Teesta Setalva (online): She is a prominent Indian human rights activist, journalist, and author. She is known for her work to secure justice for victims of the 2002 Gujarat riots. She co-founded Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) and has worked tirelessly against communalism. She remains active on human rights and justice issues today.

Prathmesh Patil (Online): He has been a journalist, media professional, and translator for the past 12 years. Over this period, he has engaged in both the creative dimensions of the media landscape and its critical and research-oriented aspects. He has reported extensively on social, political, and economic issues, with a specialization in political and agricultural reporting. Additionally, he has also founded and led three independent media organizations, with Indie Journal being the third and currently active venture.
Prajakta Joshi (Online): She is presently working as a Correspondent with the Reporting Team of Sakal Times, Pune.

Contribution towards program cost: We expect participants to contribute an amount of Rs. Rs.5000/- towards workshop expenses, which includes all on-site workshop costs: accommodation and all materials used in the workshop. Need-based partial waivers are available.
