पहाड़ी राज्यों के युवाओं और कार्यकर्ताओं के लिए
हिमालयी क्षेत्र के मुद्दों पर 8 दिवसीय कार्यशाला
उत्तराखंड के वीरान गाँव से लेकर मरती हुई नदियाँ; हिमाचल प्रदेश के सिकुड़ते हुए ग्लेशियर और कश्मीर में राज्य के दमन तक , हिमालय का क्षेत्र पर्यावरणीय, सामाजिक आर्थिक और राजनैतिक तौर पर संकट में है. जहां एक तरफ तो यह इलाका अनोखी जैव विविधता ,संस्कृति और राजनीति की जन्म स्थली रहा है वहीं दूसरी तरफ आज के दौर में यहां के युवाओं का अपनी भूमि से अलगाव बढ़ रहा है . क्या हिमालय का इतिहास आज के पहाड़ी युवाओं द्वारा पूरी तरह से समझा गया है ? या वे भी आर्थिक दौड में फंस कर इस इलाके के स्वरूप के बदल जाने से अलग थलग हो जाते हैं ? हिमालय का इलाका ना सिर्फ भारतीय उप महाद्वीप में अनोखा है बल्कि पूरे दक्षिण एशिया में अपनी अनोखी इलाकाई, भैगोलिक स्थितियों और राजनैतिक विशेषताओं में पूरी तरह से अलग है और इधर बेस हुए लोग कहीं न कहीं अपने को एक दूसरे से जुड़ा हुआ महसूस करते हैं. पहाड़ और हम एक ऐसी कार्यशाला है जहां हम हिमालयी क्षत्र की चुनौतियों को देश-दुनिया की व्यापक समस्याओं के सन्दर्भ में देखने का प्रयास करते हैं. साथ ही अलग-अलग पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों की समानताओं को देख कर एक पहाड़ी अस्तित्व की तलाश करने में सहभागियों का समर्थन करते हैं.
प्रक्रिया
8 दिवसीय प्रक्रिया में बातचीत, अनुभवी लोगों से चर्चाएँ, क्रिया कलाप, मैदानी भ्रमण, श्रमदान, खुले स्थान और मौन आदि माध्यमों से इतिहास, संस्कृति ,पर्यावरण, अर्थव्यवस्था हमारी पहचान और विकास के स्वरूप, विविधता और संदर्भ को खोजा जाएगा.

कौन भाग ले सकता है ?
हिमालय क्षेत्र में रहने वाले व्यक्ति / समूह जो सामाजिक कार्यों में जुड़े हुए हैं या जुड़ना चाहते हैं। यह कार्यशाला हिंदी भाषा में होगी।
कार्यक्रम का शुल्क :
इस कार्यक्रम का कोई निश्चित आवेदन शुल्क नहीं रखा गया है| यदि आप या आपका संगठन संभावना संस्थान को भेंट या दान के रूप में राशि देगी तो इस प्रकार के कार्यक्रम के आयोजन में सहूलियत होगी परन्तु कुछ भी शुल्क न दे सकने वाले प्रतिभागियों का हार्दिक स्वागत है.
स्थान: संभावना परिसर हिमाचल प्रदेश के पालमपुर के पास एक गाँव में बसा है, यहाँ प्रांगण में ही रहने एव कार्यशाला की व्यवस्था उपलब्ध है.

Rethinking Development in the Himalayas
A workshop for youth from the Himalayan States
6th to 13th January 2017
From the ghost villages of Uttarakhand to the dying rivers and receding glaciers of Himachal Pradesh to State repression in Kashmir – the Himalayan region is in crisis, ecological, socio-economic and political. At the same time its still the world’s most diverse landscape in the cradle of unique ecology, culture, society and polity evolved historically. But is this history adequately understood by the youth in the mountains today or are they getting more and more alienated from its culture, as the landscape changes drastically in the race for more economic growth.
The Himalayan region not just in the Indian subcontinent but across South Asia, with its geo-political specificities today faces its own unique challenges. A changing climate, depleting forests, vulnerable traditions, disappearing rivers, and governments looking at land, water, forests, which are the cornerstones of mountain life, as resources to be exploited for wealth creation. And it is essential that the younger generations who are thinking about these issues come together on a platform to further build their perspective collectively.
With this purpose Sambhaavnaa Institute for the last three successive years has been organizing a workshop called ‘Pahar Aur Hum’, where youth from the Himalayan region come together to collectively introspect on issues facing the region.
The Process
A diverse palette of issues ranging from history, culture, ecology, economics and identity to paradigms around development, diversity and context shall be explored through talks, discussions, activities, field visits, performances, manual labour, open spaces and silence.

Who can participate:
Individuals/ teams from social sector or youth who already work or wish to work at the grassroots in the Himalayan region, representing not just the various political states and countries geographically within the Himalayan ranges, but also smaller socio-cultural groups from Himachal Pradesh (including Lahaul-Spiti), Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Pakistan.
Program Fees: Sambhaavnaa does not expect participants to make any monetary contributions towards this program. Infact if there are participants who need some travel support they could mention so in their application form (Please note that we do not support air travel and this option is only for participants who have no other option)
