Workshop Overview:
“People’s Lawyering” – a 5-day residential workshop jointly organised by Sambhaavnaa Institute of Public Policy and NAJAR (National Alliance for Justice, Accountability and Rights), from 7th to 11th July, 2025, at the Sambhaavnaa Institute in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. This intensive training is specifically designed for practicing lawyers with at least 2–3 years of experience—particularly those involved in criminal defence and committed to defending and advancing constitutional rights, individual freedoms, and civil liberties.
Workshop Highlights:
Participants will engage in a dynamic curriculum that blends theoretical insights with practical skills. The curriculum includes modules on public interest litigation, strategies for leveraging transparency laws in advocating for accountability, approaches to counter communal politics through judicial mechanisms, the ethics of legal representation, and understanding and strategizing around special statutes (like UAPA and PMLA), and mastering essential skills such as reading chargesheets and planning bail applications. Learn from a distinguished panel of facilitators including Prashant Bhushan, Trideep Pais, Shahrukh Alam, Soutik Banerjee, Suroor Mander, Anjali Bharadwaj, and Amrita Johri and others.
